The Roots of Vikara Village® 🧘🏽‍♀️

“When the root is deep, there is no reason to fear the wind” – African Proverb

Dear Reader,

At Vikara Village®, our values are the foundation of our work. We thrive with community. We offer an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment. This means we show up as our full selves. We are present for each other and offer a warm smile when it’s needed.

Our mind-body practices help people navigate the challenges of everyday life. Join our community by supporting accessible and exceptional trauma-informed programs.

With you, we all rise together. A sense of community helps to give roots and a solid foundation for people to develop their mind-body connection and grow. Help us rise by joining our community and contributing to our mission here.

Hannah Davis, the Founder and Executive Director of Vikara Village®, is a social worker and yoga teacher passionate about leadership, youth, and family. Hannah began practicing yoga in 2009. Since then, she has completed various trainings in mind-body healing techniques, and has worked tirelessly to provide students with high quality trauma-informed and community-based yoga classes.

As a social worker, Hannah was constantly fighting an uphill battle as she searched for services for her clients. Finding options relevant and accessible to teens became a challenge. She began to incorporate some of the tools from yoga into her work with clients. Noticing how a simple breathing exercise could transform an interaction with a client sparked inspiration for a sustainable alternative to services that are too often inaccessible to many she served.

Hence, Vikara Village® was born. With your help, we can continue to provide transformative services to help those in need.

Vikara Village® started small in 2016, providing programs to just about 50 students. Since then, we have grown to serve over 3,150 individuals. We couldn’t do it without you. To help us reach even more people, please consider donating to #RootToRise. You can double your impact thanks to Takoma Therapy matching each gift up to $3,000. Your $36 gift, DOUBLES and becomes a $72 gift to Vikara Village®!

All gifts will go to our programming, to help keep our trauma-informed mind-body services exceptional and accessible.

Warmly,

Vikara Village®
