Hi Reader, As summer begins, many of us are in the space between, where endings become beginnings — school years coming to a close, schedules shifting, routines changing. Even in a season of excitement and change, the body can ask for rest. This month’s theme is micro-rest: a small pause that helps us find stillness, reset, and come back to ourselves. Rest does not always have to mean a long nap, a quiet room, or a full afternoon away. Sometimes, rest can be one slow breath. One unclenched jaw. One moment of noticing that you are supported. Inside the Work You Help Sustain In our programs, we often remind students that regulation can happen in small moments. A deep breath at their locker in between classes. Tuning into the cool water running over their hands in the bathroom. Many young people do not have the space, time, or safety to drop fully into deep rest. But they can learn to notice when their body is asking for a pause. And with these tools, they can respond. Practice: A Micro-RestYou can try this anywhere — at your desk, in your car, or before walking through the door into the next part of your day.
That's it. A small pause. A moment of relief. A reminder that rest can begin right here. Why This Matters Micro-rest gives students a tool they can actually use in real life: in the middle of a school day, a transition, a hard feeling, or a stressful moment. Your support helps young people access moments of relief and grounding — one breath, one pause, one practice at a time Until next time, Every newsletter offers something you can feel — a grounding, a moment of reflection, an invitation to pause — while also connecting you to why Vikara Village® exists. We want this year’s newsletter series to give back to our community, the way you continue to give to us.Want to help young people become more resilient to bounce back from future toxic stress?

HiReader, As we move deeper into spring, life can begin to feel full — schedules picking up, energy shifting, and more happening all at once. Sometimes that fullness, even if we are full of things we love, can tip into overwhelm. This month’s theme is sensory grounding: a simple way to come back to the present moment when things feel like too much. When we feel overwhelmed, our nervous system can go into a state of alert. Thoughts race. The body tightens. It can feel hard to focus or settle....
