Root to Rise #LaunchDay is here!

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think” - Winnie the Pooh

Dear Reader,

Today is November 20th, and you know what that means – Happy #LaunchDay!

We rise together, as a community. By supporting Root to Rise, you are helping teens heal from trauma and toxic stress through mind-body wellness.

Our goal is to raise $6,547 by December 31. You can help us get to the $6,547 we need to offer FREE trauma-informed mind-body sessions to students in Montgomery County's Alternative Education Schools. As we face the challenge of the youth mental health crisis, young people in our community need us more than ever. Mind-body practices, like yoga and the arts, help heal our students.

You can expand access to our trauma-informed mind-body programs by supporting Vikara Village® on #LaunchDay with a donation of $50.

Vikara Village® specializes in providing trauma-informed mind-body wellness classes. The goal of Root to Rise is to educate others on the healing properties of mind-body wellness and to supply our students with high-quality low-cost or free services.

What is trauma-informed yoga and why is it important?

  • Yoga heals the mind and body
  • Lessens the mental health difficulties
  • Ensures the environment is safe for students

Gifts donated to #RootToRise help us change our student’s lives.

Our facilitators are carefully selected and certified in teaching trauma-informed yoga. One of our Safe Space Yoga class facilitators reported how one student's practice helped him cope with his anxiety. "I feel tranquil and more together with myself," he said. With your help, we can help young people cope with toxic stress.

By choosing to support Vikara Village®, you're investing in your community's resilience and mental wellness. Gifts contributed to the #RootToRise campaign will fund and develop our mind-body healing programs and keep our classes accessible, so that students face no financial barriers to joining our village.

Your contribution can provide a student with supplies, support them in our program, support the design of the curriculum, or even cover the cost of entire trauma-informed mind-body sessions for Blair G. Ewing Alternative Education students in MCPS.

$36 - Provides a yoga bolster to a student

$50 - Funds the design of our mind-body curriculum

$100 - Covers the cost of 1 Trauma-Informed Facilitator

$250 - Sponsors a Safe Space Yoga Class

No matter the size of your gift, you are making a difference.
