An Update from our Executive DirectorBoo! We hope we didn’t scare you, Reader 👻 As the leaves change from the bright greens of summer and the temperature cools down, we welcome the enchanting spirit of Halloween and the arrival of autumn. I've always found Fall to be a time of transition for me. I love seeing the red and orange hues on the trees and being greeted by the cool air in the mornings. Autumn is a time to cleanse and let go. You may notice the world around us beginning to turn inward. Trees are shedding their leaves, and animals are gathering food to prepare for the long cold months ahead. Our bodies are naturally meant to do the same - shed, turn inward, and let go of what we don't need. Our mind-body practices, like yoga and meditation, are great tools to help us reflect and quiet our busy minds. This month, we are excited to share some festive and fun ways to incorporate wellness into your fall celebrations. Whether you're looking to nourish the body after a day of trick-or-treating or want to unwind with a themed meditation, we have something for everyone! Here at Vikara Village®, we are dedicated to providing trauma-informed wellness as a healing tool for individuals who need help managing trauma and toxic stress. We believe everyone, regardless of their financial status or background, deserves access to treatment. Next month, we're excited to launch our Root to Rise end of year campaign! With the support of our donors, we're able to provide a solid foundation for participants to rise, grow, and prosper as more resilient citizens. This year, gifts made through our Root to Rise campaign are going to support FREE Safe Space Yoga classes for MCPS students. Keep an eye out for more details in the weeks ahead.
