An Update from our Executive DirectorHello Reader, As we reflect on the past year, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible journey we've shared. Vikara Village® has continued to grow and thrive since 2016, thanks to the unwavering support of our dedicated donors, volunteers, and partners. Here’s a look back at some of the significant milestones we've achieved together this year. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey. Together, we are making a difference, one breath at a time. With heartfelt gratitude, Hannah Davis, LCSW, LMSW, E-RYT-200, YACEP Founder & Executive Director By the Numbers: 286 Lives TouchedThis year, we have had the privilege of serving 286 individuals through our various programs and initiatives. Each person’s journey with us reinforces our commitment to fostering wellness, peace, and personal growth within our community. Launch of the Art Therapy ProgramWe are excited to announce the launch of our Art Therapy program! We are partnering with Create Arts in Silver Spring, MD to offer an innovative type of psychotherapy that uses various forms of art as a means of self-expression and therapeutic intervention. It is a tool used by therapists to help others interpret, express, and resolve their emotions. This form of therapy has been found to be beneficial in the treatment of various mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The program has already received positive feedback in its first full year, and we look forward to expanding its reach in the coming year. Collaboration with MCPS Alternative Education ProgramThis year, we launched a special program within the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Alternative Education Program. Our tailored Safe Space Yoga sessions are designed to support the unique needs of students with various challenges, promoting physical well-being, emotional balance, and improved focus. We are proud of this partnership and the positive impact it is having on students’ lives. Welcoming New Yoga FacilitatorsOur team is growing! We are delighted to welcome several new Yoga Facilitators who bring diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives to our nonprofit. Their enthusiasm and expertise are already enriching our programs and helping us reach more individuals within our community. Our Facilitators are clinician-trained through our specialized trauma-informed yoga training. Looking AheadAs we look to the future, we are excited about the opportunities to further our mission and extend our reach. We are planning new programs, expanding existing ones, and continuing to foster a supportive and inclusive community where everyone can experience the benefits of mind-body practices. We are looking for new Board Members to join our Board of Directors! If you, or someone you know, are interested in putting your professional skills to use to help a growing organization, please reach out and let us know.

HiReader, As we move deeper into spring, life can begin to feel full — schedules picking up, energy shifting, and more happening all at once. This month’s theme is sensory grounding: a simple way to come back to the present moment when things feel like too much. When we feel overwhelmed, our nervous system can go into a state of alert. Thoughts race. The body tightens. It can feel hard to focus or settle....
